[1corinthians 12:1-2]
Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.
You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
Gentiles who do not know God bow down to mute idols and accept the thoughts of demons.
Those who do not know the Holy Spirit and follow idols are all dragged to hell.
[1corinthians 12:3]
Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
Without the power of the Holy Spirit, no one can acknowledge Jesus as the Lord of salvation.
When we believe in Jesus and repent, the Holy Spirit comes. The Holy Spirit transforms our ugly lives into righteous and beautiful ones.
When the Holy Spirit guides us, our faith grows into a faith that leads us to heaven.
If the Holy Spirit does not guide us, there is no one to protect and defend us from Satan's evil attacks.
[1 corinthians 12:4-7]
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit given to God's people are diverse, yet they are all gifts given by the same Holy Spirit.
The saints within the church have many different roles, yet the Lord who bestows these roles upon them is one.
God works in these diverse ways to protect the church, benefit the saints, and lead them all to heaven.
[1 corinthians 12:8-11]
To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are numerous and varied. Some are given the ability to speak words of wisdom, others the knowledge of Scripture, or special faith, the gift of healing, prophecy, miracles, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, and so on.
All gifts are distributed by the one Holy Spirit to each member according to His will.
[1corinthians 14:2]
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.
Because speaking in tongues is not speaking to people but to God, human wisdom cannot interpret it.
Speaking in tongues is one's own spirit speaking secrets directly to God.
The one speaking in tongues is unaware of it himself.
Interpretation is possible only when one receives the gift of interpretation.
[1corinthians 14:15]
If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?
Those who claim that the gifts of the Holy Spirit have ceased since the early church are being compared to this metaphor.
Their claim is the same as saying, "The sun has risen in the morning, but the world is still dark."
In other words, they acknowledge the light of the sun, but they do not acknowledge that the world has been illuminated by its light.
Another example is that they may acknowledge the boiling of water, but they cannot acknowledge the steam rising from it.
Such people are utterly foolish.
It is natural that when the Holy Spirit of God descends, various gifts are manifested through each person.
However, they are deceived by Calvin's lie that the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased since the early church, and are blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
The punishment for such people is extremely severe.
Such people are called spiritually blind.
The Bible says: The gifts manifested through the work of the Holy Spirit accompany God's people until the last day, when they complete their earthly life and enter heaven.
Also, until Jesus returns in the air, the work of the Holy Spirit will always be with believers.
When the Holy Spirit comes, various gifts of the Holy Spirit are bestowed upon each person.
Some have this gift, some have that gift. The Holy Spirit of God distributes them to each person in various ways.
Yet, some say the Holy Spirit has ceased to work. They do not belong to God.
Pastors and theologians like these have been deceived by Satan and are hindering God's work.
However, those who display the gifts of the Holy Spirit must be careful. They must use these gifts to edify the church and their neighbors.
And all those who have received gifts must be examined by those who have gone before them in the faith.
If one exalts and boasts about oneself when the gifts of the Holy Spirit are displayed, they will perish.
There are many such gifted people. Those who are not careful will become arrogant and perish.
