기본적인 기도의 목표는 가족과 교회와 국가를 위한 기도입니다.그리고 개인적인 문제를 위해서 기도해야 합니다.하나의 기도 목적이 정해졌다면, 다른 목적들이 무분별하게 추가되지 않아야 됩니다.목표없이 방황하는 기도는 응답이 없다.가정에 연결된 하나의 수도관에 수도 꼭지를 여러개 달 때, 전체의 수압이 약해지고, 더 높은 층에 수도물이 올라가지 못하게 됩니다.

주님은 그에게 말씀하셨다, "내가 너에 집에 가서 그를 고쳐 줄 것이다."그 때 백부장은 대답했다, "오, 주님, 주님이 그렇게 하지 않아도 됩니다. 주님이 나의 집에 오시는 것은 내가 너무나 죄송스럽습니다, 나는 그것을 감당하지 못합니다. 그는 벌써 예수님이 전능자라는 것을 깨달았기 때문이다.이방인도 이처럼 예수님이 전능자라는 것이 알았습니다. 그런데 어찌하여 예수 믿는자들, 기도한다는 자들, 성경을 읽는 자들, 전도하는 자들이 예수님이 전능자라는 사실을 알지 못하는 것인가?교인들이 하나님의 아들을 알지 못하는 것은 너무나 원통한 일입니다.전능자를 깨닫는 자는 영적인 힘을 갖는다.영적인 힘을 가진 자들은 자신의 목숨을 주님을 위해 내놓을 수 있다.참된 믿음이 없는 자들은 천국의 실제가 믿어지지 않기 때문에, 자신의 생명을 주님을 위해 내려놓을 수가 없다.
